World Cup: Mikel wary of Iran, Bosnia

Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi has warned that World Cup new team, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Iran, rather than Argentina, could be the tough teams of Group F at the tournament in Brazil next year.

Nigeria are facing the South Americans for the fourth time at this level and have never picked a point against them in the competition. But Bosnia-Herzegovina will also be facing the Eagles for the first time.

NNS Thunder to return from Australia Dec 18 -Navy

 

The Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Thunder, is to return to Lagos on Dec. 18, after successfully taking part in a multinational exercise in Australia, a statement said.

The statement was issued on Friday in Abuja, signed by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Kabir Aliyu.

Beijing Olympics medallist, Chika Chukwumerije, will on Friday tackle Uzbekstan’s Jasur Baykuziyev in the first round of the men’s +80kg at the inaugural World Taekwondo Federation Grand Prix in Manchester,.

Chukwumerije is making a return to the mat after his last outing at the last World Championships in Mexico and he will be up against the Uzbek, who is a silver medallist at the 2012 Asian Championships.

Robin van Persie will play no part in Manchester United's busy holiday programme after being ruled out for a month with a thigh injury, manager David Moyes said on Friday.
"Robin Van Persie is out for a month. He picked up a thigh strain in taking a corner kick which led to the goal (against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday)," Moyes told a news conference ahead of Sunday's game at Aston Villa.

Barcelona have signed a sponsorship deal with American semiconductor chip maker Intel, whose lmay never be seen despite being on the Spanish league champion's jerseys. Barcelona said the four-year deal - worth a reported €25 million - will see 'Intel Inside' placed on the inside front of the team's jersey, which means it may be seen only when a player lifts his shirt over his head in celebration.

'Match-fixing' quartet appear in court

Four men appeared in court in Birmingham, central England, on Friday following an investigation into match-fixing in English non-league football.
Footballers Michael Boateng and Hakeem Adelakun, both 22, and alleged co-conspirators Chann Sankaran, 33, and Krishna Sanjey Ganeshan, 43, are accused of trying to defraud bookmakers.
The quartet appeared at Birmingham Crown Court for a brief preliminary hearing.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of making anti-Semitic slurs against Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur on Twitter, British police revealed on Friday.
