Iheanacho quits Eagles for Man City

Golden Eaglets forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, is set to join English Premier League side, Manchester City. The player left having been released on Monday from the Super Eagles camp in Abuja by Stephen Keshi. Iheanacho was in camp for the Championship of African Nations billed for South Africa in January.
A statement from the Eagles Media officer, Ben Alaiya, on Monday confirmed Iheanacho’s departure for England.

ASUU calls off strike, apologises to journalists

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Tuesday called off its over five months old strike after deliberations that started on Monday morning and lasted till the early hours of Tuesday.
The Union’s President Dr. Nasir Fagge, told journalists at the press briefing, which held at the Science Complex building of the Federal University of Technology, Bosso Campus, Minna, Niger State, that it accepted the resolutions signed between ASUU and the Federal Government on the 11th December, 2013 with the President of Nigeria Labour Congress.

Andre Villas-Boas would have had to have been a "miracle worker" to blend seven new signings into a title-challenging team this season, according to West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce.
Tottenham Hotspur sacked young Portuguese manager Villas-Boas on Monday when chairman Daniel Levy wielded the axe in the wake of Sunday's 5-0 home thrashing by Liverpool.
Despite still being in touch with the top four Tottenham also lost 3-0 at home to struggling West Ham this season and 6-0 at Manchester City, results which had already piled huge pressure on Villas-Boas before the Liverpool humiliation.

Hiddink in line for Dutch job

Guus Hiddink is in pole position to become the next Netherlands national team coach as speculation increases over an imminent contract.
Louis van Gaal is to quit after next year's World Cup and Hiddink set to sign a contract in January as his replacement once the tournament in Brazil is concluded, Dutch media reported.
A two-year deal up to and including the 2016 European Championship in France is to be offered to the 67-year-old, who will return for a second spell in charge of the Dutch side.

World players' union FIFPro has demanded a radical overhaul of soccer's transfer system and is ready to take legal measures to get its way.
"The transfer system fails 99 percent of players around the world, it fails football as an industry and it fails the world's most beloved game," FIFPro president Phillipe Piat said in a statement on Tuesday.
"Football's governing bodies, clubs and leagues claim the transfer system is necessary to ensure competitive balance, whereby in fact it creates a spiral of economic and sporting imbalance which only benefits the richest one percent of clubs and player agents.

Bale out of Copa del Rey clash

Gareth Bale will miss the second leg of Real Madrid's Copa del Rey fourth-round tie against third-tier Olimpic Xativa on Wednesday due to a calf injury.
Real boss Carlo Ancelotti said the Welshman had picked up the knock in training on Tuesday, but was hopeful he would be fit for Sunday's trip to Valencia in La Liga.
"He had a little problem with a knock on his calf and we'll need to see how he recovers over the nest few hours, but I don't think he will have any problems in playing on Sunday," said the Italian.
Madrid will also be without the suspended Cristiano Ronaldo and Los Blancos still have work to do to seal their place in the last 16 after being held to a 0-0 draw in the first leg.
