Algiers ’90 Africa Cup of Nations silver medallist Friday Elaho is confident that Nigeria can shock powerhouse Argentina in their 2014 World Cup clash.
Nigeria are drawn in Group F alongside Argentina, debuntants Bosnia-Herzegovina and  Iran.  Brazil 2014 will make it   the fourth time Nigeria and Argentina will be  grouped  together  at  World Cup. They were in the same group at USA ’94, Korea/Japan 2002 and South Africa 2010 finals, and the South Americans  won  the three encounters.

Respite has come for students in federal universities as the Academic Staff Union of University has given indication that it would suspend its five-month ongoing strike by next week.
The parties had on Wednesday, signed a document to seal an agreement, giving the hope that the strike may be called off within one week .

Chinese firms sign $733m cement deal in Nigeria, Myanmar

Two Chinese firms, Sinoma and CITIC Heavy Industries, have agreed deals totalling $733m to produce cement in Nigeria and Myanmar, respectively, as they expand in emerging markets overseas.
Reuters reported that Sinoma International Engineering Company Limited, a unit of China National Materials Company Limited, signed a $536m contract with Nigeria’s Dangote Cement Plc, Sinoma and National Materials said in separate statements on Thursday.

Chukwumerije is making a return to the mat after his last outing at the last World Championships in Mexico and he will be up against the Uzbek, who is a silver medallist at the 2012 Asian Championships.

Robin van Persie will play no part in Manchester United's busy holiday programme after being ruled out for a month with a thigh injury, manager David Moyes said on Friday.
"Robin Van Persie is out for a month. He picked up a thigh strain in taking a corner kick which led to the goal (against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday)," Moyes told a news conference ahead of Sunday's game at Aston Villa.

'Match-fixing' quartet appear in court

Four men appeared in court in Birmingham, central England, on Friday following an investigation into match-fixing in English non-league football.
Footballers Michael Boateng and Hakeem Adelakun, both 22, and alleged co-conspirators Chann Sankaran, 33, and Krishna Sanjey Ganeshan, 43, are accused of trying to defraud bookmakers.
The quartet appeared at Birmingham Crown Court for a brief preliminary hearing.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of making anti-Semitic slurs against Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur on Twitter, British police revealed on Friday.
