Senegal to recall Demba Ba

 After passing over Chelsea forward Demba Ba for much of the 2014 World Cup qualifying, Senegal coach Alain Giresse has indicated he would now invite the striker following his recent strong showing at Stamford Bridge.
Senegal were beaten by Ivory Coast on a 4-2 aggregate in the playoff, with many locals and some officials blaming the French coach for fielding young and inexperienced players against the star-studded Elephants.
However, Giresse said he was forced to drop Ba after he badly performed in the early stages of the campaign.

As Fifa held the eagerly-waited World Cup draw, activists staged a colorful protest in Brasilia to draw attention to the country's social priorities: education and health.
Earlier this week, Sports Minister Aldo Rebelo played down delays in construction work for four host venues for the next year's Cup, saying the fact that a bride arrives late at her wedding does not mean the marriage will fail.

Argentina looms for Nigeria again

African champions, Nigeria have been drawn in Group F to face two time World champions, Argentina in the group stages of the 2014 Fifa World Cup finals in Brazil.
Nigeria was in pot two alongside Algeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana,Chile and Ecuador ands fans of the Super Eagles were all hoping for the best possible draw .
Joining Fifa secretary general Jerome Valcke to assist with the draw were a host of legends: Uruguay's 1950 World Cup winner Alcides Ghiggia, England's 1966 hero Geoff Hurst, former Brazil captain Cafu, Italy’s Fabio Cannavaro, Argentina’s Mario Kempes, Spain’s Fernando Hierro, France's Zinedine Zidane and German great Lothar Matthaus.
It will be the fourth time Nigeria and Argentina will be clashing in the group stages of the World Cup finals.
The two nations both clashed in 1994 when Claudio Canniggia scored a brace to condemn the Super Eagles to a 2-1 defeat.

In 2002, Gabriel Batistuta scored to help sink the Africans while Gabriel Heinze netted a solitary effort as Argentina won again at the expense of Nigeria in 2010.

Nigeria will also face Bosnia and Iran in the group.

The Al Ain striker is one of 10 players who have been shortlisted following voting from members of the Technical & Development and the Media Committees from the initial list of nominees.
Ten (10) players made the cut for the flagship African Player of the Year category, and five (5) for the African Player of the Year (Based in Africa).
