Davidson is current WBO African light middleweight champion, Australia light middleweight champion and Pan Pacific light middleweight champion. A packed bill will see Davidson fight for the title, which is now vacant after he was stripped of it having failed to defend it in over a year. Davidson opted to defend the WBO title in Nigeria but several factors prevented the fight. If he beats Tetteh, he will get a top 10 ranking with the WBO, which puts him in the position for a world title tilt in the future. “I want to get this out of the way because the biggest picture in front of me now is to destroy this boy and get him out of the way,” Davidson told reporters in Southampton during an open workout on Thursday. “I think in four or five fights I will be there and get to the number one spot. “Winning this fight would put me back in the world top 10 and that is a platform to get ready. UK scraps £3,000 visa bond

United Kingdom has cancelled the plan to impose £3,000 on first time visitors from six commonwealth countries including Nigeria, it was learnt on Sunday.
Saturday Punch had reported exclusively that UK may have suspended the plan after affected countries protested against the discriminatory policy.
The scheme failed to take off on Friday (November) as reported in June.
According to a report sighted on BBC news on Sunday, a Home Office spokesman confirmed a Sunday Times report that the policy would be scrapped.
But London Reuters said a government’s spokesman said the pilot scheme which had been due to start this month had been canceled.
“We have decided not to proceed,” it quoted the unnamed spokesman as saying.
Another report sighted on Khaleej Times reported that the AFP spoke with a Home Office spokeswoman who said, “The government has been considering whether we pilot a bond scheme that would deter people from overstaying the visa. We have decided not to proceed.”
Under the plan, visitors from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nigeria and Ghana seeking a six-month British visa would have been obliged to pay a refundable £3,000 ($4,800) cash bond to deter them from overstaying.

Jonathan meets ASUU today, union warns against force

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan
PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan will meet the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities on Monday (today), apparently with a view to resolve the Federal Government-ASUU face-off that has left varsity gates shut since July 1.
But the union said it had got wind of Presidency’s plan to direct that universities be reopened, saying such directive without amicable resolution of the current strike would deepen the crisis.
Chairman of ASUU, University of Uyo chapter, Dr. Nwachukwu Anyim, said this in a statement in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Sunday, saying that the union leaders were invited by the President.
Anyim said the invitation by Jonathan should ordinarily inspired hopes that the four-month-old strike by the lectures would soon end but that the union needed to be cautious in its optimism.
His statement read, “We are aware that President Jonathan intends to meet with the leadership of ASUU tomorrow, Monday, November 4, 2013, in a bid to address the deadlock in the ongoing strike by the members of the union.

Pakistan Demands US Explanation Over Drone Strike Which Killed Taliban Leader

A drone strike which killed Pakistani Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud has been seen by many groups in Pakistan as US’s way of derailing planned peace talk with Tehreek-e-Taliban.
Following this development, the Pakistani government has summoned the US ambassador to protest the drone strike. The country’s Foreign Office said in a statement on Saturday that the strike was “counter-productive to Pakistan’s efforts to bring peace and stability to Pakistan and the region”.
The interior minister echoed that sentiment and said that the drone strike was a “murder of peace”.
“The government of Pakistan does not see this strike as a strike on an individual, but on the peace process,” Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar told Pakistan’s Express-Tribune newspaper.
