Ghana ponder Boateng switch

Football | Ghana

The idea that Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng should be deployed further afield is gaining grounds.
Schalke coach Jens Keller - after recently blasting Ghana for the Prince’s poor performance for the club after the international break - believes the Ghanaian could lead the attack for the German club.
Keller says he is amenable to the idea of playing Boateng upfront.

“To provide Boateng in the storm, is always an idea worth it, he can play as a typical striker and also as a supporting striker,” he told Sportal.de. Boateng has scored five league goals from midfield since moving from Milan to Germany.

Gaining grounds
Five days ago, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung also raised the question about where on the pitch KPB should be played.

Recently injured Jefferson Farfan is back, meaning the right wing slot is not up for grabs. That leaves the competition in attacking midfield to become very fierce.

“The aspiring talent Max Meyer recently impressed in the centre, while Julian Draxler was moved to the left wing several weeks ago”, the paper writes, going on: “So the coach used Boateng up front [against Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend], but Boateng seemed uneasy playing as a sole striker.”
This is a question that Ghana boss Kwesi Appiah will also be pondering in the run up to Brazil 2014.
