Pierce fined $15,000 for excessive contact

Paul Pierce
Brooklyn Nets forward Paul Pierce was fined $15,000 by the NBA on Tuesday for “excessive and unnecessary contact” in Monday’s loss to the Indiana Pacers, canoe.ca has reported.
Pierce executed a professional-wrestling style clothesline of guard George Hill during Brooklyn’s 103-86 home loss. Pierce was 0-for-7 shooting and did not speak after the game.
Pierce was assessed a Flagrant Foul 2 and ejected in the third quarter.

Hill intercepted a Joe Johnson pass and turned upcourt as Pierce contacted Hill in the neck and face while ripping for the ball. Hill’s head snapped backward and Pierce was not close to stealing the ball from Hill.
Pierce was clearly frustrated in what was his first game since March 9, 1999 without a point.
