Nkana coach satisfied with draw

Football | Zambia

Nkana coach Masauso Mwale said he is not disappointed with Saturday’s draw against Zesco United, that delayed their crowning for at least another two more games.
A win over Zesco would have confirmed Nkana as 2013 FAZ Super League champions for a record 12th time, and also see them pick up their first crown since 2001.
The draw lifts Nkana to 55 points, and still four points ahead of second placed Zesco with two games left to play.
“I am not disappointed because we are playing against a team that was also playing for something,” Mwale said.

“It was a tough game but we are still on course.”
Nkana fought back against Zesco to share the points after Winston Kalengo put the visitors ahead in the 8th minute, after heading in a Kangwa Chileshe corner.
“We didn’t account for ourselves well in defence. We let in a lame goal, and as a high profile team we can’t let in goals like that,” Mwale said.
The hosts levelled scores in the 26th minute, from the spot, after Zesco defender Nyambe Mulenga fouled Nkana striker Festus Mbewe.
Striker Reynold Kampamba stepped up to successfully convert the penalty, before a tense war of attrition ensued in the remaining 64 minutes.
The draw was Nkana’s first point picked up after a turbulent last two games.
Nkana lost 1-0 at home against Nkwazi on October 20 in Kitwe, and a boardroom decision went in favour of Konkola Blades, following the two sides’ abandoned game due to crowd trouble on October 27 away in Chililabombwe.
The pressure continues for Nkana who visit their arch-rivals Power Dynamos in the big Zambian derby this weekend at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.
